HughesNet debuted a possible game-changer for traditional satellite internet users: Fusion. 

This new internet offering mixes geostationary satellite with wireless tech to bring about satellite internet without the latency, which is the time it takes for data to travel from point to point. This means gamers and work-from-home internet users should be able to have a more seamless, and faster, online experience. 

“With HughesNet Fusion plans, we are solving the latency challenge inherent with GEO technology, while maximizing the many advantages of these time-tested satellites, including low cost, reliability, dense capacity and widespread availability,” said Pradman Kaul, president of Hughes, in a press release

In select areas of the U.S., HughesNet Fusion plans are available with 50 GB for $99.99/mo. and 100 GB for $174.99/mo.

Like all HughesNet plans, Fusion plans include the following:

  • 25 Mbps download
  • 3 Mbps upload
  • Free standard installation (for lease only)
  • Built-in Wi-Fi
  • No hard data limits

Whether the service is available at your address is based on your proximity to 4G cell towers. HughesNet hopes to introduce Fusion into more markets across the U.S. later this year.
