Federal prosecutors have sentenced a New York woman to four months imprisonment for interfering last year with crew members on a flight from Dallas, Texas to Los Angeles. The flight had to be diverted to Phoenix.

According to them, Kelly Pichardo and another first class passenger were intimidating on the flight. Both women had to be taken off the plane at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on February 24, 2021.

According to authorities, the two women assaulted one passenger on the flight. They also used racial slurs against a male passenger who asked them to stop.

Pichardo allegedly also spit on the man during the recording of the altercation.

The FBI and Phoenix police investigated the case and indicted the two women for disorderly conduct, verbally and physically attacking other passengers and crew members.

According to the prosecution, Pichardo, a Bronx resident aged 32, was ordered to pay almost $9,200 in restitution to American Airlines for the altercation.

Pichardo will also be subject to supervised release for three years following her sentence.
